How to do Ghorepani Poon Hill trekking ?

The first day of trekking starts from Nayapul following the dusty path. So people will hate this part of Ghorepani. We can reach the Nayapul from 2 hrs drive from Pokhara. The first day is one of the easiest days of the trek as the path is not too steep.

The walking time is about 6 to 7 hrs which depend on one’s speed as well.

The first-day trek is up to Ulleri which is in height about 1960 m. One can find stay houses with good facilities there to stay overnight. The second day starts at Ulleri with warm sunshine after breakfast.

Second-day trek is up to Ghorepani(2874)which is the main point of interest. It takes about 5 to 6 hrs from Ulleri to reach Ghorepani and the way is a little bit steep as well. One can find good lodges and hotels in Ghorepani for the overnight stay.

The third day is one of the most exciting days as we can have the sunrise view of those panoramic mountain chains which glitters like gold on sunrise. To reach Poon Hill for sunshine one has to wake up a bit early so as to catch the sunrise over Poon Hill(3210m) which is in about 1.5 hrs walk from Ghorepani.

After scenic view of mountain ranges in Poon Hill we have to head back to Ghorepani. From Ghorepani to our third-day destination ie Tadapani which is in 3 to 4 hrs walk from Ghorepani.

One can find a stay house/lodge in Tadapani. The fourth-day destination is Ghandruk village(2000m) which is in about 4 to 5 hrs walk from Tadapani.The Ghandruk village is one of the most popular places in the Annapurna area as one can be very close to the Gurung community, their tradition, and ethics.

From Ghandruk there are views to the mountains of Annapurna including Machapuchare and Himchuli. The fifth day ends with trekking from Ghandruk-Kimche-Nayapul and back to hotels in Pokhara.

In the nutshell, Ghandruk-Poon Hill trekking can be best described as short trekking with full trekking adventures, natural sceneries, culture, ethics. Apart from some of drawbacks and difficulties, it is a good trek to have if you have limited time and u want to have all those trekking adventures in those short time.
